Personal Security, Personal Antivirus, Antivirus 2011, Windows Security Protection and a host of other official sounding programs are Rogue Programs

These and hundreds of other Rogue Security programs are fast become a blight on the internet.

These programs appear to be doing security scans on your computer. They then show you a list of problems found and offer you a solution at a price.

The scans they show are real looking but are actually phony animations, the results are either totally false or greatly exaggerated.

There are many place that will offer fixes for these problems. We offer no suggestions on repair but over the next few weeks will try to offer some possible ways to prevent becoming a victim.

First and foremost

• Make sure you have a good Anti-Virus Program
• Keep your Anti-Virus Program updated
• Ensure that your Firewall is on
• Make sure your operating system (Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 etc) is fully updated.
• Turn on automatic updates for your operating system.
• Keep all other programs updated.
